Annex no. 1 to the rules for visiting and stay on the premises of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, from 20 to 28 July and from 1 to 3 August 2016.

1. General information

  1. The premises of the Museum and historic buildings as well as objects located therein constitute an integral whole, protected by law. It is forbidden to transfer, remove, and destroy any buildings and items located on the premises of the Museum, and under its protection.
  2. From 20 to 28 July and 1 to 3 August 2016, the premises of the Museum will only be available to participants of the World Youth Day with the appropriate ID, and authorized services, with the exception of section "BIIe” accessible on 2 August as part of the festivities, commemorating the 72nd anniversary of the liquidation of the so-called “Zigeunerlager” (Gypsy camp).
  3. For security reasons, ongoing restoration works or other specific circumstances, access to places and buildings on the premises of the Museum may be limited or prohibited subject to the decision of the Museum authorities.
  4. The commemoration of the victims of the KL Auschwitz-Birkenau as part of a stay on the premises of the Museum related to the deviations from the rules set out in § 2 and 3 of this regulation requires the prior consent of the Director of the Museum, or a person authorized by him.

2. Rules of order

  1. While on the premises of the Museum, you should behave with due solemnity and respect. Visitors are obliged to dress in a way appropriate to the nature of the place.
  2. During the stay on the Museum’s premises, visitors are required to adhere to the instructions of the Museum workers, and the law enforcement and information services. Visitors are only allowed to move around the accessible and marked tour tracks without the possibility of entry into the exhibition buildings. Caution should be exercised due to the nature of the area (e.g. uneven floors) resulting from the authenticity of the historic place.
  3. The Museum guard, subject to the powers vested by the Act of 22 August 1997 on the protection of persons and property (Journal of Laws 2014, item 1099, as amended) has the right to intervene and ask persons who do not adhere to the rules to leave the Museum. In this respect, visitors are not entitled to any claim.
  1. People entering the Museum premises and their luggage may be subjected to inspection, among others, using electronic devices for detecting dangerous items and materials. People who refuse inspection, will not be permitted onto the premises of the Museum. The maximum size of bags and backpacks allowed into the Museum grounds is 30x20x10 cm.

 3. Prohibitions

It is prohibited on the premises of the Museum to:

  1. Light candles and grave candles.
  2. Consume food, alcohol; smoke cigarettes and e-cigarettes.
  3. Enter the premises with vehicles, except for wheelchairs and baby carriages.
  4. Lead or carry animal into the Museum (prohibition does not apply to guide dogs accompanying persons with disability)
  5. Carry flagpoles, banners, placards, ads; canvassing or hawking.
  6. Carry weapons, items and substances that may constitute a threat to safety, as well as to life and health.
  7. Enter the premises of the Museum under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating agents.
  8. Use musical instruments, radio receivers and other sound systems.
  9. Use drones on the premises of the Museum, without the consent of the director of the Museum.
  10. Take photos in the visitors and hand luggage security check zones
  11. Wander off the marked visiting route.

4. Final provisions

Entry to the premises of the Museum constitutes acceptance of the Rules. Appropriate legal measures shall be applied to persons who do not adhere to the rules.
